Gill Jones

About Gill Jones

Gill originally qualified with a B.Ed in Creative & Performing Arts which she taught for many years, later becoming the Director of Courses at an Arts Centre and then a member of the Education Advisory Service helping schools develop their drama and dance curriculum.  She was also co-director of her County Youth Theatre and founded and directed its Youth Dance Company.

She continued to paint and draw the moors and shores of North Devon when time and an enthusiasm for  sailing permitted.

In 2011 she gained First Class Honours in a B.A. in Fine Art having decided to challenge herself and explore new ideas and techniques, including film and photography.  Her subject was the human figure and the Vulnerability of Man.  Records of this work can be found in the Women's Art Section in Goldsmiths Special Collections Library.

Currently she is working in a very free and impressionistic way with watercolours, acrylics and diverse printmaking techniques, and also continues to work with images of the human form.

She has exhibited in Devon, in Oxford and in London and her work has sold as far away as Australia.

As well as in her own studio in Barnstaple, work can also be found in the Portland Gallery, Portland Street, Ilfracombe; The Folio Studio, Ilfracombe; The Jill Rousseau Gallery, Cooper Street, Bideford; The Reed Gallery, Bude Street, Appledore; & The Square Studio, Northam.

She is currently part of the North Devon Arts exhibition at Broomhill Art Hotel.

She will be part of North Devon Art Trek in September at the Portland Gallery, Ilfracombe.
